Others

The VRF Others Program is designed for outstanding ensembles of various formations that do not fall strictly within traditional orchestral or choral categories.

This program emphasizes artistic excellence, originality, and cultural expression, and operates under a curated, non-competitive framework.

Eligible Ensemble Formats

The Others Program is open to high-level ensembles, including but not limited to:

  • Chamber Ensembles
  • Instrumental Ensembles (mixed instrumentation)
  • Contemporary Music Ensembles
  • Traditional / Cultural Music Ensembles
  • Cross-genre or innovative ensemble formats

Ensemble size and instrumentation are flexible, provided the artistic concept is clear and performance-ready.

The final eligibility of each ensemble is subject to artistic review by the VRF Artistic Committee.

Participation Structure

The Others Program operates as a curated exchange track and does not involve competitive evaluation.

Participating ensembles will take part in the following festival activities:

  • Opening Ceremony and Opening Concert
  • Workshops and exchange sessions as part of the VRF Academy (where applicable)
  • One full-length public concert (approximately 60 minutes)
  • Professional artistic exchange and feedback with invited artists and faculty
  • By curatorial invitation, selected ensembles may participate in the

Festival Gala / Highlight Concert

  • Closing Ceremony and joint festival activities

The Others Program does not involve rankings, scores, or jury awards.

Participation in Gala or featured concerts is based on artistic distinction, program identity, and overall festival curation.

Repertoire & Program Guidelines

  • Programs should reflect the ensemble’s artistic identity, cultural background, or creative concept.
  • Repertoire may include classical, contemporary, traditional, or cross-genre works.
  • Program structure and pacing are determined by the ensemble and confirmed with the organizer.

Artistic coherence and expressive integrity are key evaluation principles.

Thematic programs, complete works, or culturally representative repertoire are strongly encouraged.

Instrumentation, Arrangements & Technical Considerations

  • Arrangements that enhance the ensemble’s artistic character are welcome.
  • VRF supports creative approaches to instrumentation, provided professional performance standards are maintained.

All repertoire and arrangements must be suitable for public concert presentation.

Any special technical, staging, or instrumentation requirements must be declared at the time of application.

Repertoire Submission & Copyright

  • Participating ensembles must submit complete program information during the application process.
  • Any repertoire involving special instruments, electronics, or accompaniment must be clearly indicated.

All performances must present the ensemble as a collective artistic entity.

Participating ensembles are responsible for securing all necessary copyright and performance permissions.

Honors & Certificates

  • All ensembles completing the Others Program will receive the

VRF International Exchange Performance Certificate.

This certificate confirms participation in a formally curated international festival program.

  • Ensembles demonstrating exceptional artistic quality may receive

VRF Artistic Recognition or other curated distinctions determined by the VRF Artistic Committee.

These recognitions do not imply competition or ranking and are granted as artistic acknowledgment.
